Her Name Is

Her Name Is is an artistic response to John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men. With nothing more than a suitcase, Unnamed finds herself in the void, unsure of herself, her past, or her surroundings. She doesn’t know how she died but she knows one thing…she desperately needs a cigarette.

This solo show gives a name to a woman who is so much more than what Steinbeck wrote her to be. This piece explores AFAB identify, violence against women, and the importance of holding on to our dreams. How can you die when you’ve never fully lived?

Talie is the playwright and performer of this solo show. Her Name Is debuted its first iteration in December, 2022. This piece is currently in development and Talie hopes to tour this production in 2026.

Talie is developing a curriculum for high schools that studies this work alongside Of Mice and Men as a way to deconstruct the American cannon.
